FOR ONLY A PENNY (ABC10)

Columbia House, the mail-order music and movie club that became a pop-culture fixture with penny-priced introductory deals, is finally shutting down after 71 years. Founded in 1955, the club rode vinyl, 8-tracks, cassettes, CDs and later DVDs, reaching about 16 million members at its mid-1990s peak.
